bay area bike help!

so I just found this 75' honda 500 in this garage, its been sitting waiting for me to rescue it for the last 21 years not being ridden at all. the only problem is that it hasnt even been started in 21 years. it needs a very basic flushing of all the fluids, the carb, some de rusting , a new batterie, new brakes and cables, and some new rubber. all the pieces i have, however i dont have the experience to tackel this on my own without taking a chunk of weeks, so im looking for some one who could help me do thses things and teach me as its happing. i can offer trade, i am a tattoo artist, with a few other skills, or cash payment for this help.

New motorcycle tribe

I just started a new tribe that centers around Harley riders in northern Cali. I'm not a Harley or nothing type but wanted to talk with other like minded riders. Pedal scrappers are more than welcome and really the tribe, (I hope) is more about where good spots are and what events are going on.
ANY input will be helpfull and I hope to see you there.

Scourge of vandals

Scourge of vandals recently attacking in Ellis/O'Farrell garage. They stole my helmet. Several times I had found the helmet dangling where they tried to grab it not realizing it was locked. This time they just cut the strap, leaving scratch marks on my handlebar cross-bar.

Today I found that they had whacked my padlock trying to get the new helmet.

I was tempted to put an ink pack in the liner to give the vandal a blotched forehead, but that would probably lead to retaliation. Instead, I just have to carry my helmet with me, or leave an old one that I've thought about getting rid of anyway.

Today Scott Calvert, SO of Ann Goldberg., who is to take care of my
BMW75/6-Sputnik sidecar, sent me an emergency letter stating that the
sidecar went missing. It was parked in Oakland, between 3rd Avenue and
19th.

I am in New Mexico, and cannot be back in California until January.

We have since checked with both the police and the tow, and neither
confirmed that they have the sidecar in their records. That means it is
stolen.

Most of you know this is my teaching vehicle, and I put almost a year to
make this vehicle happens. I am supposed to bring this vehicle back to
New Mexico in either this month, or January.

The vehicle in question is white, with the sidecar being red (a
sputnik). Its vehicle license plate number is 7M0563 (0=zero). Its vin #
4947155

Please spread this email out as far as possible, and also to all
(including Bay Area riders) forums, so that it could be found before it
was disassembled or shipped to Mexico. Please notfy all local groups such
as the Vampires, the Rats, Dragons, etc, to look out for it. Feel free to
do whatever you want to do with the thieves. I just need the vehicle
back.

Notice that since this is a sidecar, if the person stole it for joyride
may not know how to operate and can kill himself very easily. For those
that knows sidecar, its steering method is the exact opposite of a
motorcycle. A sidecar, like a trike, is traditioanlly used by handicapped
person, so stealing a sidecar is really a very disgusting act. This is a
school vehicle, and my students are usually handicapped.

Streets you can get airborne (well, if you're willing to hit the accelerator at a particular moment):

Gough -- near Eddy
Franklin -- a few blocks up the hill from Columbus?

These are spots where the one-way downhill crosses a flat cross-street and then drops off below it.

spark plug bashed

Crap... two nights ago someone smashed my spark plug (Leavenworth in Tenderloin). I had heard this has been happening - supposedly so people could use the ceramic as a crack pipe. Not so sure I believe that, but I suppose.

Anyway, they used something fairly heavy that left a few gouges in my aluminum head. Worst part, I have a thermostat with electrical connections right in front of the plug that leads to my cooling fan. Their whacking smashed the electrical connections. Fortunately, my single cylinder has two spark plugs, with the second one fairly inaccessible to bashing :-) I was able to reconnect the fan connector to get running again.

Such a drag, though. Lacking a spark plug or wrench, I thought I was going to have to push the bike quite a few blocks, that is, until I figured out I could get it going again.

Arcata

Went to Arcata with my girlfriend (in her car). It's a nice ride; combination of two and four lane. It's 6 hours, but is less of a drain than going to Mendocino, due to no twisties. Of course, on a motorcycle, twisties are nice, but hours on end can be wearing after awhile. 101 has broad sweeping curves all the way up.

I was eyeing the road from Redding to Arcata -- looks like it would be nice, but it's 150 miles of twisties. Doing it would probably mean spending the night in Redding, then cutting through. Anybody ever done that?

Show in 13 US cities over the coming months. The Cycle World Shows attract

bringing some extra entertainment to the event with the help of the show

FASTER will have a stand at the show and the movie will play at a venue
